essential oils

Using essential oils in our daily lives can evoke feelings of calm & relaxation. They can also energize us, help us focus, reduce stress and give us a sense of well being. They have many positive psychological benefits, physical benefits and can also help make us feel better when we are unwell.

My personal favorite essential oil combination is Orange & Vanilla! It reminds me of the after-bath lotion I used to buy for my boys when they were babies. That smell combination brings back SO many feel-good memories for me. All I have to do is look at this photo of my little baby Lane (from 9 years ago, how did that happen?) and I can already smell the Orange & Vanilla sweetness. Smells can be very powerful and tie themselves to all kinds of memories!

Do you use an essential oil diffuser at home? What are your favorite oils and what purpose do you use them for? Here are a couple things we do...

Cold & Flu season: For myself, my husband and my boys I like to diffuse Eucalyptus & Lavender together at night. The Eucalyptus to help clear the congestion and the Lavender to help relax. If one of us is feeling particularly unwell (lots of coughing, sore throat, etc) I will swap out the Lavender for Tea Tree (it has such great antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, AND antifungal properties)!

Cleaning: I love using Tea Tree for cleaning! I mix it in with some white vinegar & water in a spray bottle. And it's especially fragrant when mixed with some Lemon or Peppermint oil for a really fresh, clean scent! And NO HARMFUL CHEMICALS!

Wellbeing: Lane still LOVES the smell of mommy (awww)! So when he's at school and misses me, he's super happy (and relieved) to have his Quinn & Lane Diffuser Necklace handy. He likes to wear it under his shirt, and when no one is looking, he pulls it out for a quick sniff (I drop a couple drops of Lavender & Vanilla on his necklace which closely mimics my bodywash). He's also been seen sniffing it at home when relaxing in front of the TV. The Lavender oil on it is fantastic to help calm and relax him. Shhh...don't tell him I snuck this pic. I am a firm believer in using whatever works to help our kiddos get through the day. Especially during these crazy "Covid" times. We aren't the only ones that have dealt with A LOT of changes recently. It makes me happy knowing something as simple as this can still bring him comfort.

How to enjoy your Quinn & Lane Essential Oil Diffuser Accessories

(These instructions are included with every Essential Oil Accessory purchase).

How to activate the diffuser beads:

Place 1-2 drops of your favorite essential oils on each crochet diffuser bead. Tip: place the oil drop near the top or bottom end of the bead where it meets against it's neighbor bead. This helps the aroma last longer and also keeps the oils from touching your skin/clothing. Re-activate your beads daily with new drops of oil if needed.

Want to change scents?
Simply handwash with mild soap and warm water. Let fully dry. Then re-activate as per above with new scents!

IMPORTANT: The crochet diffuser beads ARE safe to chew as long as they have NOT been activated with any essential oils. Once activated, please do not allow the beads to be put in the mouth or to be used by any children under the age of 3 years. You may wash the beads as per above and they will once again become safe to chew as long as you do not re-activate them with oils again. If you do, then wash again before allowing any chewing.
Life Span: Depending on how many times you wash and reactivate, each Essential Oil Diffuser product can last from 3-6 months with daily use (sometimes longer if you continue to use the same scent each day and don't wash it as frequently).

I'd love to hear what YOU use essential oils for! Drop a comment below. I'm always eager to learn new uses and it always fascinates me what others have found works well for them.

Just a word of caution though: essential oils should never be applied directly on the skin undiluted. They should also never be ingested and never used around babies under the age of 6 months. Some essential oils can be harmful if breathed in by pets so please do your research prior to using any essential oils in your home.
